Making the DIY Crystal Chandelier:

Making this eye-catching ornament saves a lot of money. This DIY project doesn’t require any crafting skills or special tools, and even a beginner can follow the steps given below:

Materials:

  • Crystal garlands
  • Embroidery hoop
  • Mirror tiles
  • Gorilla wood glue
  • Clamps
  • Masking tape
  • Champagne glitter
  • Floral wire
  • Transparent fishing line
  • Screws
  • Staples
  • Rust-oleum champagne spray paint
  • Loctite construction adhesive
  • Mod podge

Tools:

  • Drill driver
  • Glass cutter
  • Hammer
  • Utility pliers

Prepare the embroidery hoop:

Remove the bolt and extra pieces of wood from the embroidery hoop. Start with a plain embroidery hoop without the extra bits for an easier time building your chandelier.

Cut off the excess metal using a jigsaw with a metal blade. To create a cleaner look, carefully cut away any unnecessary metal parts.

Apply gorilla wood glue to the hoop and clamp it together until dry.  For a secure bond, use strong wood glue.

For the tight fit, you also need to use the masking tape.

Replace the long screws with shorter ones. Swapping the screws ensures the hoop will fit well with your crystals and mirror tiles.

Mark 1 inch apart to have an equal spacing for the staples hooks. For this purpose, you can use a pencil and a one-inch mirror tile.

Separate the crystals from the garlands, taking two pieces with six beads for the short corners and sets of four for the rest. This will help you to create a cascading design.

Once the glue is dry, use staples to secure the crystals to the hoop, starting from the center with 23 crystals and working your way to the corners with six crystals.

Use a hammer to tap the staples lightly and two staples if needed. Be gentle to avoid breaking the crystals. Add one crystal each time to string the crystals together and create a beautiful crystal cascade.

Once you finish the staples, remove the crystals temporarily to spray paint the edges and inside of the hoop with champagne spray paint. This will give your chandelier a polished and sophisticated look.

Attach the mirror tiles:

Cut the mirror tiles to fit using a glass cutter. Customize your tiles to fit your chandelier’s design perfectly. Apply Loctite construction adhesive to the back of the mirror tiles and attach them to the hoop, covering the staples. This adds an extra touch of glamour and helps to conceal the staples.

Assemble the chandelier:
Apply Mod Podge with champagne glitter to the inside of the hoop. A coat of glittery Mod Podge adds sparkle to your chandelier and enhances its overall appearance.

Wrap floral wire around the screws on the hoop and tighten them. The floral wire will provide support for hanging your chandelier. Loop the floral wire over the light fixture and replace it with a transparent fishing line for a cleaner look. The fishing line adds an invisible support system, making your chandelier look like it’s floating elegantly above your room.

Congratulations, you’ve just created a beautiful DIY Crystal Chandelier! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the gorgeous ambiance it brings to your space.
