Instructions for joining granny squares with ship stitch
Whip stitch needs a little focus and perfect alignment of squares. Here is the quick guide for it:
- Take some yarn length and make a slip knot in the center of that length. Leave some yarn end so you can attach it to the needle.
- Insert the end of the length into the eye of the darning needle.
- Take the first granny square and insert the needle’s point in the back loop only of the first stitch (the corner side).
- Then, take a second granny square and insert the needle in the back loop only of its first stitch. Make sure you align the grannies rightly.
- Slip the slip knot near the first stitches of grannies and insert the needle inside the slip knot that you created. Now, pull the needle back until the knot locks tightly the first stitches.
- Now insert the needle point in the back loops of the second stitch of both granny squares from left to right. Then, insert the BLs of the third stitch from right to left and repeat across while tightening the yarn, too. In the end, weave the yarn, and you will have a nice, little invisible join.
