How to Crochet Chain?
You can learn how to crochet chain stitch easily. Here is how:
Basic Procedure needed:
Chain stitch is not the first thing you will learn in the crochet. You will need to learn the following procedures before doing the chain:
- Slip Knot: You can crochet a chain whether you have a row or round of pre-made stitches because it depends only on the loop on the crochet hook called a knot. So, you must have this. There are many ways to make a slip knot, one of them as follows:
- Pull a length of yarn from the ball and make a loop in its center.
- Lay flat the length on the table with the loop.
- Insert the hook in the loop, pick the ball end yarn with the head of the hook, and pull it back.
- Then, tighten the knot.

- Yarn Over: This involves wrapping the working yarn around the crochet hook. You will usually see it as a YO abbreviation.
Instructions for crocheting chain
If you have learned those two procedures, let’s learn how to chain:
- After you have made the slip knot, set your grip, whether pencil or knife.
- Yarn over and start pulling back the crochet.
- Pull through the self knot (loop) on the crochet hook (don’t use the entire hook) and bring the hook back to the same position.
- You can see a loop or chain under the hook. This is a chain.
- Repeat similar steps to make the whole foundation row. The longer it will be, the longer the whole project is.
