Ingredients:
- 1 pound (500g) lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 4-5 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups (946ml) beef or chicken broth
- 1 (15 oz or 432g) can corn, drained
- 1 (15 oz or 425g) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15 oz or 425g) can chili beans in chili sauce
- 1 (28 oz or 793g) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (4 oz or 113g) can chopped green chiles
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- 1 teaspoon each of dried oregano, onion powder, and garlic powder
- Salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper to taste
Stovetop Method:
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef with the chopped onions until the beef is fully cooked and no longer pink.
- Mix in the minced garlic and let it cook for another 2 minutes.
- Pour in the broth, corn, beans, tomatoes, green chiles, and seasonings. Stir everything together.
- Cover the pot with a lid and simmer for about 15 minutes. For a deeper flavor, you can let it simmer longer, just remember to stir occasionally.
Instructions:
Slow Cooker Method:
- Place the raw ground beef in the crockpot, breaking it into small chunks. (You can also choose to brown it slightly before adding).
- Add all remaining ingredients into the crockpot except for any toppings.
- Cover and cook on high for 4-6 hours or on low for 8-10 hours.
