Materials For Scare Crow:

  • 7-foot bamboo pole
  • 4-foot bamboo pole
  • Twine
  • Burlap bag

Stuffing:

  • Straw: The classic and effective stuffing material.
  • Netting (optional): Helps contain the straw and create a smoother shape.

Clothes:

  • Button-up shirt: The old one that you don’t mind getting dirty is perfect.
  • Pants: Choose a style that complements the shirt.

Accessories (optional):

  • Hat: Adds personality and helps deter birds.
  • Bandana: Another fun accessory option.
  • Bird scare cape: Shiny or noisy materials like CDs or aluminum foil can help scare away birds.
  • Waterproof paint markers: To add a face and other details.

Tip: You can use anything present in your home to make your Scarecrow more attractive, spooky, and unique. It’s ideal to use rustic and worn-out clothes.

Filling the Net with Straw:

Create a stuffing by filling the net with straw. Place this stuffing along the 4-foot bamboo pole, positioning it firmly and evenly throughout the net.

Fastening the bamboo pole:

Using twine, fasten the 4-foot bamboo pole to the 7-foot pole, approximately 6 inches from the top. Make sure that it’s secure and tight.

Putting on the shirt:

Dress the assembled bamboo poles with a shirt. Ensure that it covers most of the stuffed net so that the scarecrow appears more realistic.

Stuffing the Pant:

Create two long piles by stuffing the net, then bind the ends of these stuffed nets. Insert and position them in the pants, as these will serve as your scarecrow legs.

Making suspenders for pants:

Cut two pieces of twine, about 3-4 feet long, and attach them to the front and back belt loops of the pants. This will keep the pants from sagging.

Stuffing the Shirt:

Stand the scarecrow up and stuff the body with straw. Button up the shirt and puff out the chest to make it look scarier.

Making a face:

Use a waterproof paint marker to skillfully draw a face on the burlap bag, giving your scarecrow a unique and expressive visage.

Adding the Accessories:

Complete your scarecrow’s look by adding a hat, bandana, or any other fun accessories you like. This will not only give it character but will also make it more effective at scaring away birds.
