Step-by-Step Guide

Materials Needed:

  • Two layers of fabric (30cm x 20cm), one polka-dotted and the other solid pink
  • Same sized layer of fusible interfacing
  • Iron
  • Sewing machine
  • Safety clips
  • Scale and a pencil
  • Toothpick
  • Snap button/magnetic button/velcro for closing
  • Scissors

Place your fusible interfacing on the polka-dot fabric and fuse them together using an iron.

Now, place the second solid pink fabric layer on top of the fused materials.

Draw a straight line along one side of the fabric, but remember to leave a two-inch gap in the middle. This gap will be left unsewn for now.

Once the line is drawn, fold your fabric in half and mark a two-inch distance on the side opposite to the one with the drawn line. Use a protractor to draw a curve from the two-inch mark, and cut away the excess fabric following this curve.

Open the unsewn side of the fabric and mark about 5cm down from the curved area on the lower layer of the fabric.

Fold the lower fabric up to the 5cm marked point, giving the pouch its desired form.

Use safety clips to hold everything in place, and open the solid fabric’s fold.

At this point, your project will start looking like a pouch. Use your sewing machine to stitch along the marked lines.

When the sewing is complete, make small cuts running along your stitches and turn the pouch inside out, hiding the stitched seams. Here, you’ll need the toothpick to push out the fabric from within the pouch and give it shape.

After this careful exercise, use an iron to press and finalize the pouch’s shape.

For a secure foldable flap, apply edge stitch and top stitch.

Finally, attach the snap button/magnetic button/Velcro to the pouch flap to keep it closed and secure.

By following these steps, you can create a sleek, personalized phone pouch made just for you!

This DIY project results in a masterfully crafted fabric phone pouch with charming simplicity. The combination of polka dot and solid pink fabrics enhances the pouch’s visual appeal, while the compact design assures practicality. The end result is more than a mere phone pouch – it’s a personal expression of style meeting functionality.
