1. Dishes.

When guests are arriving at your home in the morning, I find it’s best to set the table the night before. It puts you one step ahead of things for the next day! I wanted my brunch to be a bit fancy for my sweet mom so I brought out the fine china, white cloth napkins, and linen placemats to set the table.

2. Food.

Hosting brunch with breakfast menu items can get you stuck in the kitchen cooking instead of enjoying your company. Look to la Madeleine, a French bakery and café, to cater your brunch so you aren’t held hostage by the stove at your own party.

I ordered brunch online at laMadeleine.com and I picked it up that morning before my mother and other family members arrived. You also have the option to have your local la Madeleine restaurant bring and serve the food at your event.

For the menu, I chose la Madeleine’s Country French Brunch. It includes an Egg & Cheese Croissant Bake, made with either sausage and bacon or spinach, Cheesy Potato Gratin, Mini Croissant Mix & Fresh Fruit Salade.

I also chose a gorgeous Fruit Tart and a delicate Coconut Cake to serve guests. These brunch items from la Madeleine were so vibrant and appealing, my mother and other guests mentioned that they may be too pretty to eat.

Everything did, in fact, get eaten and Mom later told me that I served the best Coconut Cake she had ever tasted.

3. Drinks.

Cocktails and coffee. That’s all you need for a happy brunch! I served mimosas because it’s an easy crowd favorite. Pour orange juice into a lovely pitcher, place champagne in an ice bucket, and everyone is pleased.

Guests who do not drink alcohol will still enjoy drinking orange juice from champagne glasses! My nieces who attended my brunch loved this.

4. Decorations.

When you serve beautiful food, you don’t really need to decorate much. Food can be your centerpiece! I set out a large cake stand with hydrangeas around the base. Hydrangeas are my mother’s favorite!

The stand, flowers, and the beautiful Coconut Cake from la Madeleine on top made quite the statement.

I did have a couple of blue mason jar vases with hydrangeas on the table for guests to see as they arrived. I moved them to the kitchen before we sat down to eat so I could place food on the table.

Our Spring Brunch was wonderful! We ate, we drank, and we ate some more. Mom was overjoyed to have a meal planned for her and everyone seemed to love the food and the tablescape. As she walked out of the door with a leftover slice of Coconut Cake in hand, mom looked back said, “I loved this brunch, Jennifer, let’s do it again next year!”
