Cupcake Bouquet Supplies

8-12 dozen cupcakes with liners
Buttercream icing
Wilton 1M open star tip
Piping bag
Five inch Styrofoam ball
Flower pot
Toothpicks
Faux flowers/leaves for decorating

Directions

1. Fill piping bag fitted with the Wilton 1M open star tip. Start in the center of each cupcake and pipe in a spiral motion moving outward to the edge. This will create a rose effect. Practice on some wax paper if you are new to this technique.

2. Ice each cupcake filling the piping bag as necessary.

3. When you finish icing the cupcakes, put them in the fridge for half an hour to firm the icing.

4. Position the styrofoam ball in a flower pot. Take two toothpicks and place them in each area where you would like to place a cupcake.

5. On the sides of the pot, insert the toothpicks at an angle so the cupcakes won’t fall.

6. Slide one cupcake into each pair of toothpicks. Move and adjust the toothpicks to create the spacing you would like.

7. Once the ball is as full of cupcakes as you desire, use faux flowers and leaves to cover up the empty spaces of the cupcake bouquet.

Now that you know how to make a cupcake bouquet, everyone will want one. You might not even have to buy gifts anymore! It’s really fun to play around with these bouquets and make each cupcake with a different color of icing. You can also fill the empty spaces with real flowers or other props.

If you have tiny helpers at home, this is a great DIY to let them “help” with. My daughter loves to decorate my bouquets with the faux flowers and I get bonus mom points if I let her choose the icing colors. Enjoy!
